Last month, miners’ revenues reached the highest rates in the entire history of cryptocurrency mining.
According to the Coin Metrics service, in February, bitcoin miners earned more than $ 1.36 billion in total, which is $ 110 million (8.8%) more than the previous record recorded in December 2017. Compared to January, the income level increased by 21.4%.
The bulk of the revenue came from rewards of $ 1.17 billion for the closure of new blocks. The remaining 13.7% or about 190 million miners received through the payment of commission fees.
At the same time, the income from the production of ether for the first time exceeded $ 1 billion.Since January, the earnings of miners have increased by 65.1%, from $ 0.83 billion to $ 1.37 billion, actually equal to the bitcoin revenue.
In the case of Ethereum, in addition to the increase in the rate, the increase in earnings was mainly due to growth in transaction fees. They accounted for $ 722.8 million in February, or 52.8% of revenue. The total payments for the closure of the blocks amounted to $ 644.4 million.
