Boeing has tested UAVs that ignore operator commands that violate protocol

Boeing conducted flight tests of a swarm of five jet drones that coordinated without the intervention of a human operator..

Each of the 3.4-meter UAVs is equipped with an artificial intelligence system, onboard controls, data exchange with ground platforms and group navigation. Despite its small size, each aircraft is capable of speeds up to 270 km / h.

During 10 days of testing at the Australian proving ground in Cloncurry, the squadron independently determined how to accomplish the assigned missions, but pilots monitored them remotely. At the same time, the built-in AI did not just learn, but could refuse to execute operator commands that did not correspond to the protocol, for example, a self-destruct order.

Australian authorities plan to integrate this control system into drones and large combat aircraft so that, if necessary, they can quickly make the right decisions.
